Power On

Power ON Sequence

DANGER

Failure to follow the power-on sequence may cause unpredictable machine behaviour, and this may have serious consequences.

WARNING

When the main power switch is locked, it means that maintenance, setting-up or similar work is being carried out. Do not switch the main power switch to the [ON] position.

REFERENCE

Location of switches, buttons and procedures see 808D Programming and Operating Manual.

  1. Connect the machine to the power supply through a suitable circuit breaker.

  2. Close the working area door and pull out the [EMERGENCY STOP] button if it is pressed in.

  3. Switch the main power switch on the electrical cabinet to the [ON] position and wait for the control system to boot.

  4. After the system has booted (approx. 90 s), press the [JOG] key and the [RESET] key on the MCP panel.

  5. Press the [CONTROL VOLTAGE START] key.

  6. After approx. 15 s, press the [EMERGENCY STOP] button. The control voltage should be switched off immediately.

    Tip

Check that everything went correctly. The previous step and this step are necessary to verify the correct function of the safety circuits.

  7. Pull out the [EMERGENCY STOP] button and press the [RESET] key on the MCP panel.

  8. Press the [CONTROL VOLTAGE START] key.

  9. Press the [DOOR] key. The control voltage should be switched off immediately and after approx. 2 s the door lock is released automatically.

  10. Open the door and close it again. Once closed, it should not be possible to open it again.

  11. Press the [CONTROL VOLTAGE START] key.

Note

In this state the machine is ready to start a program in automatic mode, or manual axis movements in [JOG] and [HAND WHEEL] mode are possible. Spindle control is also released and, where possible, other machine functions as well (for example cabin lighting, coolant start, etc.).

Activation of the [CONTROL VOLTAGE START] state is signalled by the indicator LED above the corresponding button.

Tip

In general, all buttons on the MCP panel that have an LED installed signal the status of the given function.
