Emergency Stop

To stop machine operation during manual or automatic operation, use one of the following three methods: press the [EMERGENCY STOP] button, press the [RESET] key or the [STOP] key.

Because the state of the machine after stopping will differ depending on the method used, you must understand the differences between the methods.

CAUTION

When the [EMERGENCY STOP] button or the [RESET] key has been pressed to stop the machine during a hole machining operation, a tapping operation or a thread cutting operation, move the axes carefully and check the workpiece and the cutting tool carefully for damage. [The workpiece, cutting tool or machine may be damaged.]

Emergency stop with the [EMERGENCY STOP] button

After the [EMERGENCY STOP] button is pressed, the machine stops. If the machine is equipped with more than one [EMERGENCY STOP] button, it can be stopped by pressing any of them. All machine movements stop regardless of the operating mode.

Note

Bear in mind that the movements do not stop immediately because of inertia. Likewise, pneumatically controlled movements complete the movement that was started before the [EMERGENCY STOP] button was pressed. Functions such as tool cooling and the like are switched off.

WARNING

Because of their inertia, the moving parts of the machine may not stop immediately after the [EMERGENCY STOP] button is pressed. Before approaching these parts, always make sure that all operations have stopped.

Note

The power supply of the circuits that control the axis movements, spindle rotation, pumps, chip conveyor and so on is switched off.

Cancelling the [EMERGENCY STOP] mode

  1. Pull out the [EMERGENCY STOP] button, close the working area door and press the [RESET] key on the MCP panel.

  2. Press the [CONTROL VOLTAGE START] key.

In this state the machine is ready to start a program in automatic mode, or manual axis movements in [JOG] and [HAND WHEEL] mode are possible. Spindle control is also released and, where possible, other machine functions as well (for example cabin lighting, coolant start, etc.).
